Early Life & Youth:
Full name: Antonio Rocco Romeo.
Born March 25, 2000 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
He is of Italian descent.
Youth clubs:
Bolton Wanderers SC (Ontario) – one of his very early youth teams.
Richmond Hill Raiders and Woodbridge Strikers – before joining the Toronto FC academy.
Toronto FC Academy – from about 2014 onward he was part of TFC’s youth system.
Club Career:
Toronto FC III (League1 Ontario)
He made 33 appearances for Toronto FC III. He also scored at least 1 goal there.
Toronto FC II (USL Championship & USL League One)
He joined Toronto FC II in 2016, signing a pro contract in September 2017. Over his time there he made 25 appearances and scored 1 goal.
HB Køge (Denmark, on loan from Toronto FC)
He had loan spells with first division Danish club HB Køge. One in 2019 (8 appearances) and another stint later on in 2020/2021.
Toronto FC First Team
In January 2020, he was signed as a Homegrown Player by the Toronto FC senior (MLS) side. However, as of the last update, he had not made appearances in competitive matches for the first team.
Valour FC (Canadian Premier League)
He first came to Valour on loan in mid-2021 from Toronto FC.
After the loan, he joined Valour on a permanent deal ahead of the 2022 season.
During his time with Valour up to departure for Vancouver, he played in 42 matches in all competitions, scoring 4 goals.
Vancouver FC (Canadian Premier League)
In 2023, he moved to Vancouver FC (an expansion side in the CPL).
Over his stay there (2023-2024) he played 49 matches. The goal tally was modest (around 2 goals) during that time.
Whilst at Vancouver FC he also earned some fan recognitions — e.g. Supporters’ Player of the Season etc.
Return to Valour FC
In January 2025, Romeo returned to Valour FC, signing a one-year contract for 2025 with an option for 2026.
International Career:
Has represented Canada at various youth levels:
Canada U-17 – competed in the 2017 CONCACAF U-17 Championship.
Canada U-20 – played in the 2018 CONCACAF U-20 Championship.
Was named to the Canada U-23 provisional roster for the intended 2020 CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship.
Education:
Public records show Rocco Romeo grew up in Richmond Hill and was educated through the Toronto FC Academy pathway while also attending school in the York Region area. Multiple sources list him as an alumnus of Holy Trinity School (Richmond Hill) and as being a student at Blyth (student-athlete arrangements were mentioned in 2017).
Romeo is currently completing his post-secondary education through the University of Athabasca in hopes of achieving a BA in business management and marketing. Romeo also has aspirations on becoming a lawyer in the future.
